Doctoral Programme

  • A Master’s Degree in Mathematics / Engineering / Science / Computer Science accepted by the Senate; or
  • Other qualification equivalent to a master's degree that are accepted by the Senate.

Master Programme

  1. A Bachelor’s degree in mathematics/ engineering/science/computer science with a CGPA of at least 2.75 from a University a recognized by the government and approved by Senate; OR
  2. A Bachelor’s degree in mathematics /engineering/science/computer science with a CGPA of at least 2.50 from a university a recognized by the government and successfully passed rigorous internal assessment.
  3. Any other equivalent qualification recognized by the University Senate. 

International Students Entry

 

1) International students are required to have proficiency in written and spoken English in one of the following forms:

- A minimum TOEFL score of 550; or

- A minimum IELTS score Band 6; or equavalent.

2) Candidates who do not possess English language proficiency are required to sit for the English Placement Test before commencing their studies at UniMAP


English Placement Test

All foreign post graduate students who do not possess English language proficiency equivalent to TOEFL 550 or IELTS 6.0 are required to sit for the English Placement Test before commencing their studies at UniMAP.

The placement test comprises two measurements:

  1. A computerized English measurement
  2. A paper and pencil English test which measures the four language skills –

speaking, listening, reading and writing.

The grading is divided into six bands.


Intensive English Course

Students who do not obtain the required English language proficiency level either band 5 or band 6 in the placement test, are required to take the Intensive English Course. The placement of students into the intensive English course is based on students’ performance in the placement test.

The intensive English course comprises two levels:

  1. Level 1

-           The duration is six months - 480 contact hours, 4 hours per day, 5 days per week.

-           This course is meant for students who obtain band 1 and band 2 in the placement test.

-           The fee is RM 2500.00

  1. Level 2

-           The duration is three months - 240 contact hours, 4 hours per day, 5 days per week.

-           This course is meant for students who obtain band 3 and band 4 in the placement test.

-           The fee is RM 1500.00

iii.         The course is designed to help students to further strengthen their English language proficiency so that they will able to pursue their studies in English successfully. The focus of the course is on all the four language skills. A student centred integrated approach will be used in the course. Lab work is an integral part of the course.
